Congratulations on joining Liscombe Swim Academy, we can’t wait to meet your child and get them started on their swimming journey!

Your child will need appropriate swimwear, a towel and shampoo/conditioner if they are showering on site. Goggles are personal preference and swimming hats are compulsory. When you enrol your child you will receive a draw string bag with our branded red swimming hat inside.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the class to familiarise yourself with the location of the pool and changing facilities.

Where possible, ensure your child has not eaten roughly 1 hour prior to the class. We want them to enjoy their lessons and time in the pool and not spend it feeling sick or worse, be sick!

There are male and female changing rooms on the poolside for you to supervise your child whilst they change. In both changing rooms there are showers, toilets, changing cubicles, disable change, hair dryers and lockers (padlock required). During Swim Academy lessons (stages 1-7) the pool side changing rooms are solely used by Swim Academy members, therefore, no adult Health Club members are permitted to use them. With this in mind, it’s suggested that children aged 8+ are welcome to change by themselves unless the parent would prefer to supervise them. If supervision is preferred, please use the changing room belonging to the gender of the parent/guardian. For example, a mother bringing her son will use the female changing room.

No outdoor shoes are permitted on the pool side, therefore, please use the blue shoe covers provided, remove your footwear or wear flip flops. Please also remove your children’s shoes prior to entering the poolside, this helps us to provide clean, hygienic facilities.

Once your child is changed walk carefully to the pool side with your child and sit on the bench with the correct teacher’s name. Once your lesson is ready to start, the teacher will complete a register and ask the children to enter the water safely. All floatation equipment and toys are provided to enhance your child’s swimming experience.

For your child’s first lesson you may sit on the pool side to watch, however, subsequent lessons must viewed on the T.V from the café upstairs. If you bring siblings/additional children, please note they must be supervised at all times when on site.

Alternatively, the stage criteria is below for you to read and decide which stage is best for your child to trial. If after their first lesson the selected stage is not quite right, this is no issue, head to reception and we will move your child to the appropriate stage.
